Despite what you may have heard, scoliosis is a repairable condition. Corrective scoliosis treatment involves Active Isolated Stretching & Strengthening therapy. If left untreated, scoliosis will often get worse. Commonly, the lateral curvature will increase over time. That means that the scoliosis curve gets worse over time. If a spine is able to curve in the wrong direction, with proper scoliosis treatment, the scoliosis curvature can also be straightened. Corrective scoliosis treatment is not well understood by medical professionals. Do not believe the naysayers when they tell you that nothing can be done to correct scoliosis. If you want to fix scoliosis, it can be done with the right method.
Scoliosis begins at the hip. In scoliosis cases, the hip is frequently uneven. Scoliosis clients usually neglect strength training exercises to the upper body and core muscles. The muscles of the upper body and torso hold the spine in place. If those muscles are weak then the spine begins to sag and bend. As time progresses, the degree of curvature increases because bodies get weaker with age and lack of strength training has a cumulative negative effect.
Effective scoliosis treatment first involves extensive manual stretching to all muscles that affect the spine. The pelvis must be stable and even. Upper body muscles, the neck, low back, and leg muscles all need to be stretched as the preliminary procedure. Afterwards, the spine is manually corrected. A therapist adjusts the spine in the opposite direction that it is curving. This adjustment will only be a temporary change unless the person practices the assigned homework which includes self-stretching exercises and strengthening exercises that will prevent the spine from returning to its curved position.
This procedure is unique and not fully understood by other scoliosis specialists. Aaron Mattes, kinesiologist, developed this procedure and has been using this method for thirty plus years.
